Old Cocktail Books

As someone who is applying to graduate school to become a librarian, clearly there had to be a section for books. This page is a collection of old cocktail books that you can now find online. So far as I know, many of these are out of copyright and provide an amazing picture of liquor at the time. However, there are some new cocktail books as well.

1700 Cocktails for the Man Behind the Bar by R. De Fleury (1934)

Cuba: The Legend of Rum by Anistatia Miller, Jared Brown with David Broom & Nick Strangeway

Cups and Their Customs by John Van Voorst (1869)

How to Mix Drinks by Jerry Thomas (1862)

London’s Classic Gin Cocktails by Anistatia Miller and Jared Brown (2009)

Modern American Drinks by George J.Kappeler (1895)

Shake ‘Em Up by Virginia Elliott & Phil D. Strong (1932)

The World’s Drinks and How to Mix Them by William “Cocktail Boothby (1907/14)

What Shall We Drink? by Magnus Bredenbek (1934)
